Local hardware testing

KeyTest is designed to process diagnostic input locally in your browser. The basic tests do not upload camera video, microphone audio, keyboard events or USB device information to KeyTest.

Data processed during tests

Keyboard

Key press events are processed locally for live visualization. Non-sensitive choices such as keyboard layout and form may be kept in local storage.

Camera

After you choose “Test camera,” the live stream is displayed locally. KeyTest does not upload, store or automatically record frames.

Microphone

Microphone input drives the local live meter. Optional recordings remain in browser memory, are not uploaded, and are cleared when deleted or the page closes.

Speakers and screen

Speaker tones are generated locally. Screen patterns are rendered locally and do not inspect or capture the physical display.

USB and battery

Information exposed through browser APIs may be displayed locally during a test. Browser permission is required before a compatible USB device is accessed.

Diagnostic reports

Report notes, observations and generated timestamps stay in the current page. Print and text/CSV export actions are initiated by you and create a local browser output; KeyTest does not receive the report.

Cookies and local storage

The current application code does not intentionally set cookies. It may use local storage for non-sensitive interface preferences. Hosting infrastructure may still use essential platform mechanisms outside the application code.

Server logs and hosting

Hosting and network providers may process standard request information such as IP address, browser information, requested URL and timestamps for security and service operation. No hosting provider is named here because deployment configuration is not confirmed in this repository.

Advertising and analytics

KeyTest does not currently include active advertising or analytics code. If those services are introduced, this policy will be updated and applicable consent mechanisms will be implemented.
