TROUBLESHOOTING

Keyboard test FAQ

Practical answers without delaying the test.

A key does not light up. Is it broken?

Not necessarily. Try the key in another browser and another application. Browser shortcuts, accessibility settings, drivers, wireless interference, debris, or hardware damage can all affect the result.

Why can't KeyCheck detect the Fn or Power key?

Many laptops process Fn, Power, brightness, and some media keys in firmware or the operating system before the browser receives them. Their absence here does not prove they are faulty.

The key lights up but types the wrong character.

The hardware signal is arriving. Check the active operating-system language and select the physical legend that matches your keyboard in KeyCheck.

What are ghosting and rollover?

Rollover is how many keys a keyboard can report together. Ghosting occurs when a combination is missed or reported incorrectly. Use Advanced mode and hold several keys to inspect the limit.

What should I do after spilling liquid?

Stop testing, power the device off, disconnect external power, and seek qualified service—especially for a laptop. Do not add cleaning liquid or heat while the device is powered.

Does KeyCheck record what I type?

No key history is sent or stored by this tester. Testing happens client-side; local storage remembers only your selected layout and physical keyboard form.

KEYCHECK

Test a UK ISO keyboard in your browser

KeyCheck displays the UK ISO key legends and physical Enter shape so every press maps to the correct position. Full-size mode includes system keys, arrows and the numeric keypad.

Use quick mode for a fast check or advanced mode for rollover, repeat and possible chatter signals. Your keystrokes stay inside the browser and are not saved as typed text.
